  • Brownie Award Winner - Communications, Marketing and Public Engagement (2009)
Former gasoline or service stations and other petroleum hydrocarbon sites are a specific type of Brownfield site commonly found throughout Canada. Many of these sites remain underutilized and vacant with low potential for redevelopment. BLOOM in collaboration with the Canadian Petroleum Products Institute (CPPI), the Province of Ontario and other stakeholders, developed a redevelopment framework that provides a standardized and streamlined approach to redevelop these sites in Ontario. In 2009 the Framework was recognized with a Brownie Award for development and dissemination of a new brownfield tool, The Redevelopment Framework for Former Services Stations in the Province of Ontario. The Framework was also a Finalist in Category 1 - Legislation, Policy and Program Initiatives. The Framework is available as a free online tool on the aboutREMEDIATION website.
