$15,000 Grant Available for Employers
Six $15,000 Transition Assistance Grants Available for Environmental Companies
ECO Canada now has 6 more grants of up to $15,000 available for companies who hire an employee from another sector for an environmental job.
Background
The Environmental Career Transition Project is a pilot project that aims to develop a comprehensive system to enable environmental employers to access and integrate displaced workers from other sectors into the environmental sector. ECTP host employers and transitioning workers will be helping to develop a national framework to assist workers from declining sectors find long-term meaningful employment in the environmental industry. How To Apply
Applying for the grant is easy. Just email transition@eco.ca with the following documentation:
- Job description highlighting environmental competencies
- Transitioning workers' resume
- Job offer
- Skills development plan based on ECO Canada template
Application deadline is May 31st, 2009. Please email transition@eco.ca to receive a template of the skills development plan.
Requirements of the Funding
- Grant money would be used toward a combination of internal mentoring and external skills upgrading for the new employee
- Worker must fulfill ECO Canada criteria as a transitioning worker and last job cannot be environmental
- Employers would be required to contribute a minimum of $30,00/year to the worker's salary
- Municipal government jobs, research associate positions at post-secondary institutions, and industry jobs are all eligible
