Position Description - Project Coordinator
The Kilmer Brownfield Equity Fund is the first Canadian
private equity fund to specialize in brownfield redevelopment in the
Canadian marketplace. To execute its plan, the Fund has assembled a
management team of brownfield specialists with experience in the key
disciplines required to unlock value in brownfield sites: environmental
risk management, real estate development and finance and investor relations.
The pairing of brownfield redevelopment and private equity is intended
to specifically address the financial barriers that have historically
impeded activity on brownfield sites during the site restoration and
redevelopment stages. The Fund will use its capital to acquire, remediate
and reposition brownfield sites and to structure appropriate indemnities
for parties involved in the transactions. The remediated sites will
then be sold to real estate developers or end-users for build out.
Responsibilities of the Project Coordinator
Project coordinator will be delegated responsibility for
implementing various projects tasks within their competencies and experience.
Making decisions with reference to professional judgement and established
guidelines, procedures and practices. Solicits advice and instructions
from management as necessary.
Position Objective: to assist in the evaluation
and implementation of brownfield redevelopment strategies pertaining
to the Fund's projects through the following activities:
- Coordinating plans, assessments, studies, research,
surveys, reports, proposals and calculations of moderate scope using
the application of prescribed technical or planning methods, previous
experience, professional judgement or instructions from senior management.
- Being self-motivated in obtaining and analyzing data,
and designing or implementing tasks. Seeks appropriate direction from
management on an as needed basis to support assigned duties.
- Providing solutions to various project challenges
by applying professional judgement, standards and following advice
or instructions from management.
- Being responsible for making recommendations on the
acceptability of analysis supplied and work completed by third party
consultants/contractors.
- Occasionally interacting or liaising with various
stakeholders and/or third-party consultant/contractors within guidelines
and as delegated by management.
- Assisting in estimating costs, developing and implementing
project plans and contracts, and monitoring all phases of project
execution and deliverables.
- Supporting business development activities as per
instructions or delegation by management. May undertake independent
business development within prescribed limits.
Skills and Qualifications:
- University or college graduate in applied engineering or geosciences or planning to the scope of duties and expertise required. Generally,
three to five years of related work experience for University graduates
or five to eight years for college graduates with appropriate designations
(e.g. Certified Engineering Technologist, CET).
- Working knowledge of basic CAD and Microsoft Project and their application.
Supervision Received/ Exercised:
- Works under general supervision within a specified and designated range of duties or responsibilities. Substantial independent activity
is required and has the ability to prioritize responsibilities based
on the requests from various principles.
