| Main Body |
Brownfield properties are often a community's most overlooked and under appreciated real estate assets. Realizing their potential can have positive economic and environmental impacts on neighbourhoods, communities and urban areas as a whole. The clean up and sustainable reuse of brownfields as commercial, recreation or residential sites attracts investment, jobs and tax revenue to communities across the country. Thanks in part to the progress being made by the Canadian Brownfields Network (CBN), its Advisory Panel and CBN members nationwide, unlocking the potential of brownfields is no longer the formidable task it once was. There are many tools already available and new ones are always in development. Participating in Canadian Brownfields 2006 is the best way to keep in touch with advances being made in this field.
